The Early Career Professionals Provisional Section (ECaPS) of the International Council on Archives (ICA) is pleased to announce an introductory webinar on Monday, 11 May 2026, from 14:00 to 15:00 CET (Paris time) titled “Growing, Connecting, and Collaborating: An Introduction to ECaPS”.

This webinar will offer an overview of ECaPS, including its mission, objectives, and first initiatives. It will highlight opportunities for participants to connect with peers, develop professionally, and engage in international collaboration within the global archival and records management community. The session will be delivered by Oscar Zamora Flores, Susannah Tindall, Lerato Tshabalala, Laura Yturbe Mori, Gina Chacon, and Janny Sjåholm, all members of the ICA New Professionals community and active contributors to ECaPS initiatives.

ICA Early Career Professionals Provisional Section (ECaPS)

Delivered in English and Spanish, the session is aimed at students in archival, records management, and information studies programmes, as well as new professionals and early career archivists and records managers with less than ten years of professional experience. Particular attention will be given to how early career professionals can actively contribute to and shape this growing network.

A key focus of the session will be the introduction of the Outreach Pilot Project. Participants will learn how they can get involved as volunteers, taking part in delivering talks, engaging with different audiences, and supporting the development and expansion of ICA Students & New Professionals membership worldwide.

The session will consist of a 45-minute presentation followed by a 15-minute question-and-answer segment, allowing time for discussion and exchange.

Speakers
Oscar Zamora Flores

Oscar Zamora Flores is an archivist at the Center for Puerto Rican Studies. He has a Master's in Library Science with a certificate in Preservation of Cultural Materials from Queens College, CUNY. He has worked at UNICEF Archives, Bronx Community College Archives and Special Collections and the Federal Highway Administration Research Library in Washington D.C. He is a member of the Education Committee of the Archivist Roundtable of Metropolitan New York and alumni of the New Professionals Programme (2021-2022).

Gina M. Chacon Vargas

Gina M. Chacon Vargas is an archivist and records management professional with experience in international and corporate environments. She has contributed to diverse projects involving Information Management systems modernization, from design to implementation. She holds a Bachelor's degree in Archival Science from the University of Costa Rica. Her main focus is on metadata, taxonomy, electronic records, and digital asset management. She is an alumna of the New Professionals Program (2021–2022).

Laura Yturbe Mori

Laura Yturbe Mori holds Bachelor’s degree in Archival Science and Records Management from Universidad Católica Sedes Sapientiae, Peru. She has more than six years of experience in public archives and in the development of archival regulations within the National Archives System. She graduated from the ICA New Professionals Programme (2021–2022).

Lerato Tshabalala

Lerato Tshabalala is currently employed as an Archivist at Rhodes University, South Africa. She obtained an Honours Degree in Information Management from the University of Johannesburg. She a member of South African Society of Archivist and ICA New Professionals Alumni 2021-2022, she is interested in memory work, digital archiving, access and digital preservation.

Janny Sjåholm

Janny Sjåholm is an accomplished information management professional with extensive experience in archives and records management. She specializes in the entire life cycle of records, managing both analogue and digital formats. Sjåholm is a board member of Archivists Without Borders Norway and the Association of Norwegian Archivists, as well as a member of the ICA’s Expert Group on Advocacy (AEG). She holds a Master’s degree in History from the University of Bergen and a diploma in Records Management from Oslo Metropolitan University.

Susannah Tindall

Susannah Tindall works at Monash University in Melbourne, Australia. She has completed a Graduate Diploma in Information and Knowledge Management at Monash University, and a Master of Information Studies at Charles Sturt University. Susannah was a member of the 2021-2022 ICA New Professionals Programme Cohort. Susannah is currently working in IT support at Monash University, building her IT knowledge and skills, while providing expert advice on information management queries. She strives for greater user experience and continual service improvement.
