The ICA Expert Group on Archival Description (ICA/EGAD) is pleased to invite you to the first online session in March providing an introduction to the new description standard, Records in Contexts (RiC). This online session is part of a series of webinars that aim to provide a basic understanding of RiC and a platform for participants to engage directly with the experts behind its development.
This first session will be facilitated by Tobias Wildi of the University of Applied Sciences of the Grisons and Silke Jagodzinski of Geheimes Staatsarchiv Stiftung Preußischer Kulturbesitz.

Agenda and Discussion Topics
The session will last two hours, during which the facilitator will cover the following topics:
- The history and evolution of Records in Contexts
- Key entities in RiC, including Record, Record Set, and Instantiation
- The significance of Context Entities (e.g., Place, Agent)
- Understanding Attributes and Relationships: their purpose and application
- Practical application of RiC: the Conceptual Model and Ontology
The final 30 minutes of each session will be dedicated to answering your questions, giving you a chance to clarify doubts and expand your understanding of RiC.
