We are pleased to announce the release of Flash No. 47, the International Council on Archives’ digital magazine, which reflects how archival work increasingly connects with broader social, cultural, and professional contexts, highlighting new partnerships, emerging challenges, and innovative approaches.

The articles in this issue range from archival sports partnerships and the recovery of archives affected by natural disasters to the intersections of archives with tourism and human rights, including the documentation of genocide. Flash No. 47 also features two contributions that examine how the profession itself is evolving: the 2025/2026 New Professionals Cohort presents a resource guide on emerging practices and the results of a global survey on how archivists perceive change, while an article on the EGATTT Guide sheds light on international efforts to prevent the theft and illicit trafficking of documentary heritage. Together, these contributions underline a profession that is increasingly outward-looking, collaborative, and engaged with global concerns.

Importantly, Flash No. 47 is the first issue to include articles selected through the call for contributions opened in 2025. This milestone reflects ICA’s ongoing commitment to amplifying the voices of its members and creating meaningful opportunities for them to engage with ICA’s projects, debates, and professional networks. We are proud to showcase these contributions and to continue building a more inclusive and participatory platform for the global archival community.

As we look ahead, ICA members are warmly invited to contribute to the next issue, Flash No. 48, on the theme When Archives Meet AI: Ethics, Sustainability, and Professional Responsibility. Proposals are now open, and we encourage members to share their experiences, reflections, and initiatives on how artificial intelligence is shaping archival work today.
