The International Council on Archives (ICA) is an international, non-governmental organisation that brings together archival and records management institutions and professionals around the world to advocate for the effective management of archives and the physical protection of documentary heritage, to develop recognised standards and good practices and to promote dialogue, exchange and knowledge transfer across national boundaries. With approximately 2,000 members from nearly 150 countries and territories, ICA’s mission is to channel the cultural diversity of its members into effective professional solutions and to create a profession that is open to innovation and adaptation with a truly international dimension, in collaboration with the highest level of decision makers.
2025 Projects
In 2025, the ICA, through its Programme Commission, plans to continue the second phase of a digitization project with the support of various partners in Ukraine. Additionally, the Commission’s primary goal for 2025 will be to implement a Regional Programme aimed at promoting the development of the archival sector at a regional level.
Additionally, the ICA will celebrate its seventh International Archives Week, scheduled from 9-13 June, featuring virtual activities open not only to ICA members but also to the wider archival community. This year will also mark the highly anticipated ICA Congress in Barcelona, bringing together ICA members and the broader community.
