The ICA New Professionals Programme is designed for early-career archivists and records management professionals seeking to strengthen their skills, expand their networks, and grow within the international archival community.
Open to ICA members with fewer than five years of paid professional experience, the programme brings together a global cohort of new professionals working across different contexts and regions.
Participants join an international cohort, offering the opportunity to connect with peers and build lasting professional relationships. This global exchange supports knowledge-sharing and helps new professionals broaden their understanding of archival and records management practices worldwide.
Each participant is paired with an experienced mentor who provides guidance throughout the programme. This structured support helps new professionals reflect on their practice, develop confidence, and explore future career pathways within the profession.
A key element of the programme is a cohort-led group project. This collaborative work develops practical skills such as teamwork, communication, and research, while contributing to the wider aims of the New Professionals Programme and the international archival community.
Selected participants will attend and present at the ICA Kuching 2027 Conference. This offers valuable professional visibility and the chance to engage directly with global discussions in the field.
