The International Council on Archives (ICA) and the Latin American Regional Branch (ALA) have signed this Tuesday, 10 February 2026 a new Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), renewing and strengthening their collaboration with the Latin American archival community. The agreement was signed by ICA President Josée Kirps and ALA President Alejandra Salazar.
The partnership centres on three priority areas:
- Membership engagement, fostering more active and inclusive participation of Spanish-speaking archivists in ICA activities and governance.
- Knowledge transfer and translation, expanding access to professional content through translation, dissemination, and capacity-building.
- Joint communications, increasing the visibility of archival initiatives at regional and international levels.
This renewed framework reinforces ICA’s commitment to working closely with partners in Latin America and across the Spanish-speaking archival community.
