Meet the ICA Fellows!
Meet Dr. Ramon Alberch i Fugeras from Spain, awarded the ICA Fellow Award in 2022, who presents in the following video (only in Spanish) four ideas about how to position our profession in the current society. Dr. Alberch also acknowledges being recognized by this award after almost 40 years of professional trajectory.
Dr. Alberch has been an active member of the Section on Municipal Archives over two decades and a productive scholar. He was a co-founder and then leader of the School of Archival and Records Management at the Autonomous University of Barcelona, the Association of Archivists of Catalonia and of Archivists Without Borders. His drive and initiative have had a notable influence both advancing archives and the profession in Spain and in Latin America. His dedication in establishing a graduate program (MA and PhD) integrating all aspects of records and archival studies will have a continuing impact through its graduates. Dr. Alberch’s long commitment to safeguard the archives of formerly repressive regimes and of archives endangered by war and his participation on the ICA Working Group on Displaced Archives have informed the ICA’s responses. His extensive publications and presentations on archives have earned him deserved national and international recognition.
