- Create a list of most vulnerable and valuable items:
-
- When we focus on cataloguing standards, we see that many archives and libraries use description standards, such as ISAD(G) for archives and ISBD for libraries. Some organisations have listed their most vulnerable and valuable items. This special list, based on your cataloguing standard, presents the relevant information and characteristics of the items, also when they are missing.
- Required information, compare with Object-ID
-
- The listed items should take into account the documentation that is required by law enforcement agencies. To prevent thefts and deal with the illicit trade in art and archeological objects, a documentation standard has been developed by law enforcement agencies, museums, the art trade, insurance industries and appraisers. This standard, known as the Object ID, defines the minimal information needed to identify objects.
- The most important and additional issue in comparison between the archival and librarian standards and the application of the Object ID is to combine the description of the items by using the categories with photography. In this way the features of the items are available not only in words but also in images.
