Today, we are pleased to present the sixth interview of the Beyond Theory project in 2025. The interview features David Larsen, a journalist and photographer by profession, who founded Africa Media Online in 2000. The interview was conducted by Lerato Tshabalala.

The International Council on Archives (ICA) Congress 2025, held in Barcelona, was a vibrant platform for professionals in the archival field to engage in discussions, share knowledge, and collaborate on global challenges. The Photographic and Audiovisual Archives Expert Group (PAAG) played a key role throughout the event, demonstrating its commitment to the preservation, access, and creative reuse of audiovisual heritage. Through a series of impactful sessions and activities, PAAG furthered its mission of fostering international cooperation and advancing best practices for safeguarding audiovisual memory. 5 November 2025

El Día Mundial del Patrimonio Audiovisual 2025 celebra su 20.º aniversario

The 11th Joint Technical Symposium (JTS) will take place on 3–4 March 2026 at the Arc Cinema, National Film and Sound Archive of Australia in Canberra. Organized by the CCAAA, this major international event will be held in Australia for the first time. Proposals are invited until 15 October 2025, addressing themes such as new technologies for audiovisual preservation, climate impacts, collection safety, and the future of magnetic media. 18 September 2025

Archivists from Latvia, Lithuania, and Estonia are leading a quiet revolution, as once back in the end of 80’s they led one to fight for their country’s independence, in preserving the Baltic region’s audiovisual heritage. Through digitisation, ethical stewardship, and regional cooperation, they are ensuring that the stories of the past remain accessible for future generations.
