The International Council on Archives (ICA) is pleased to share with its members a draft of the policy on Taking a Public Stand. This document outlines the principles, criteria, and processes guiding how ICA may respond publicly to situations affecting archives, records, and the broader archival profession.
This draft policy was developed by a group of ICA members led by Trudy Peterson.
We invite all ICA members to review the draft and provide their feedback to help ensure the policy reflects the diversity and perspectives of our global community.
Please send your comments to ica@ica.org by Friday, 5 June 2026, 23:59 CET (Paris time). In the subject line, include your ICA membership number followed by “ICA Policy on Taking a Public Stand”.
