Now in its seventh edition, #IAW2025 centres on the theme #ArchivesAreAccessible – Archives for Everyone, a message shaped by a global survey of over 300 participants. In today’s evolving digital landscape, accessibility has become a key priority for archival institutions. This year’s theme goes beyond digitisation, highlighting the need to dismantle physical, digital, linguistic, and cultural barriers to ensure archives are inclusive and representative of all communities.

Since April, the ICA has been building momentum around the theme #ArchivesAreAccessible through a social media campaign featuring the voices of archival professionals and institutions from around the world. This conversation has already spotlighted a wide range of perspectives on accessibility in archives—and it will continue, and intensify, during International Archives Week itself, offering new opportunities for connection and exchange across borders.
