The ICA Digital Magazine, Flash, is excited to announce the appointment of its new Editorial Board. This distinguished team of professionals will lead the magazine’s development, ensuring the highest standards of content and engagement. The newly chosen members are:
Shirley Carvalhêdo Franco is a distinguished professor at the University of Brasília (UnB), Brazil, Shirley has been at the forefront of archival science since 2006 and currently coordinates the Archival Science program at UnB. Her extensive experience includes roles on the Editorial Board of The American Archivist and guest scientific editor for Brazilian journals.
Shirley’s research spans social inclusion and archival policies, with postdoctoral work in Social History and additional expertise in information architecture and knowledge management. Her global experience includes teaching and research positions in Guinea-Bissau, Portugal, and Taiwan.
With extensive experience as an archivist and cultural manager, Raquel Gonzalez Rodelgo currently works at the Archivo Regional de la Comunidad de Madrid, focusing on reference services and document access. Her background includes roles in archival management and cultural education, with previous positions at the Ayuntamiento de Campo de Criptana and the Archivo Histórico de la Nobleza.
Raquel holds a PhD in Art History from the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, where her research focused on contemporary Spanish art and architectural ruins. Her multilingual skills and proactive approach make her a valuable addition to the team, enhancing Flash's content with her expertise in archives and cultural heritage.
Dr. Selematsela is the University Librarian at the University of the Witwatersrand and has previously held significant roles, including Executive Director of Library & Information Services at UNISA and Acting Vice Principal for Research and Innovation.
Her extensive experience spans international and national boards, including the International Science Council (ISC) and CODATA. Dr. Selematsela’s leadership and expertise in knowledge management, as well as her involvement in various policy forums and editorial boards, will bring invaluable insights to Flash. Her accolades in knowledge management further underscore her commitment to advancing the field.
As the Director of Research Projects at The Library, University of Reading, Dr. Sutton leads major research initiatives including the Location Register and WATCH projects.
His distinguished career spans cataloguing, indexing, and archival research, with notable achievements such as the Location Register of English Literary Manuscripts and Letters. Recognized with the Benson Medal for his contributions to literature, Dr. Sutton also plays a key role in organizations like the Royal Society of Literature and the ICA Section on Archives and Human Rights (ICA/SAHR).
As part of the Editorial Board, the new board members will shape the magazine’s editorial direction, review and edit submissions, and contribute original content. They will also engage with the ICA community to promote the magazine and solicit contributions.
