As you will know, the country originally selected to host the Conference in 2013 withdrew its invitation last July, in the light of a severe deterioration in its economic position.

The ICA’s Executive Board, meeting in Bern, Switzerland in April, decided that it is committed to awarding the Annual Conference in 2015 to an African country.

 

The Girona City Council through the Centre for Image Research and Diffusion (CRDI) and the Cinema Museum, with the collaboration of the International Council on Archives (ICA), celebrate the World Day for Audiovisual Heritage.

Earlier this year the Secretariat completed a thorough review of the CITRA at the request of the Executive Board. The recommendation to replace the CITRA with an Annual Conference, which will be open to all members of ICA, has been unanimously accepted by the EB.   It will be submitted for the formal approval of the AGM in Toledo on 28 October 2011.  This will be an important step in increasing the opportunities for our members to participate in our organization.

The CITRA takes place in the Spanish city of Toledo the week of 24 October 2011, half an hour away from the Spanish capital, Madrid, and its international airport. Toledo hosts one of the two repositories of the Spanish National Historical Archives and it is a city where Muslims, Jewish and Christians have lived together for centuries.
