This introductory session will explore the work of EGATTT and present key findings from a recent survey on theft prevention in archives and libraries with special collections. The webinar will emphasize the importance of provenance documentation and its role in applying international regulations such as the UNESCO 1970 Convention and the UNIDROIT Convention. Building on the 2015 UNESCO Recommendation on Documentary Heritage, this session will have a global impact on how archives and libraries approach security policies. Participants will be introduced to QAT, a preventive security assessment tool, and will learn best practices for creating comprehensive collection inventories of vulnerable items. This is a must-attend event for professionals looking to enhance their institution’s security strategies.
What happens when documentary heritage is stolen or trafficked? This webinar will provide insights from law enforcement agencies on the type of information required to track and recover stolen materials.
