Are you passionate about archival issues and eager to become a member of the ICA Expert Groups? The ICA Expert Groups are seeking new members to support their work in addressing key challenges in the archival and records management field.

This year, three groups are recruiting new participants:

Expert Group on Archival Description (EGAD)

EGAD is looking for up to four new members. This expert group is in charge of the development of the ICA-Records in Contexts standard and to enable national, regional, and international collaboration to facilitate the development and implementation of standards and best practices regarding archival description.

  • Applications from North America, Arabic Region, Asia, Africa, and Latin America are particularly welcome

Expert Group against Theft, Trafficking and Tampering (EGATTT)

EGATTT is looking for new members with expertise in archival protection legislation and law enforcement processes. This expert group serves as a platform for high-level discussions and provides specialist advice on combating theft, trafficking, and tampering of archival materials.

  • Applications from Africa, Asia and the Arab countries are particularly welcome

Expert Group on Legal Matters (EGLM)

EGLM is seeking to appoint one (1) new member to its group. This expert group offers a forum for discussion and expert guidance on legal and regulatory issues that affect or may impact the management of archives and records.

  • EGLM particularly welcome applications from South America and Oceania

How to Submit Your Nomination

You will be asked to provide the following information:

  • The Expert Group you are applying for
  • Your curriculum vitae (PDF format, maximum two pages)
  • A brief statement outlining your expertise and motivation for joining the group
  • ICA membership number (Applicants must be individual ICA members or right holders of an ICA member organization in good standing)

Candidates must also provide their ICA membership number and be in good standing with all ICA dues paid.

Please note that new members may not receive their membership number until a few days after payment has been received. New members wishing to submit their nomination must indicate the date of payment and mention “Pending Membership #” in the appropriate field on the Expression of Interest form.

The deadline to submit your form is Friday, 4 April 2025.

Your application will be reviewed by the Chair of the relevant Expert Group. The ICA Secretariat will inform you of the outcome of your application by the end of May. Depending on the number of applications received, the expertise represented and the geographical distribution of volunteers, Expert Groups may not be able to accept everyone who volunteers.
