ICA’s Programme Commission (PCOM) is inviting nominations for two different opportunities:
- Member at large seats (2 open seats, 4-year term, elected by ICA membership)
- Early Career Representative (1 seat, 2-year term, appointed by PCOM)
If you are an ICA member (categories A, B, C, and D) in good standing, and would like to help guide the overall ICA professional programme, consider nominating yourself for election to a seat on the Programme Commission. More information on the requirements and nomination process is available below.
Background
The ICA Programme Commission, also known as PCOM, is the governance group for ICA’s professional programme. PCOM needs a diverse group of committed, energetic, and knowledgeable archivists and records professionals to oversee ICA conferences and congresses, expert groups, funding for professional projects, as well as strategic initiatives such as the New Professionals, Training, and Regional Assistance Programmes.
PCOM seeks to have representatives from all the ICA regions. Your nomination will ask about your ability to make the voice of ICA regions underrepresented in PCOM heard. We would like to highlight that the underrepresented regions in the current Programme Commission are Africa and the Arab Region.

Nomination
To nominate yourself for one of the open seats, please complete the PCOM nomination form. The form consists of 15 questions, and you will need to attach your CV (maximum 2 pages).
IMPORTANT: For members-at-large, the details provided in the “Information for the ballot” section of the nomination form will be shared with ICA members as part of the election process.
Please ensure your nomination form includes a candidate statement (200 words maximum) and a CV of no more than 2 pages.
Schedule
Nominations are open from 19 September to 27 October 23:59 CET and elections will be held in mid-November. The at-large members are elected by the ICA membership and the Early Career representative is appointed by current PCOM members.
The successful candidates will begin their terms at the beginning of 2025.
PCOM has a very limited budget, so travel support is not routinely provided to PCOM meetings. However, if an excellent candidate from a low-resourced region could not otherwise participate, some travel funds may be available to assist.
If you are an ICA member and an experienced archives or records professional interested in contributing your energy to ICA, please consider nominating yourself to a seat on PCOM!
