“Hello. I have decades of experience as an information professional (current to permanent records). My forte is archives advocacy, and my workshop: “Dem Ole Boring Wutless Records: Critical RM at Home, Work and Play” is popular and effective at Caribbean [I was born and raised in The Bahamas], UK and Canada. ICA involvement: o Selection as Presenter at International Council on Archives (ICA) Conference, September 2022, Rome, Italy: Dem Ole Boring “Wutless” Papers? A Prototype for Bridging the RM Awareness Gap for the Bored, Uninterested or Unaware NB Was involved in a car accident and hospitalized so could not attend. o Guest Facilitator at the April 2017 Digitisation Workshop: Preserving Your Memories in a Digital World, sponsored by The National Archives of St Kitts & Nevis in conjunction with The Caribbean Branch of the International Council on Archives (CARBICA) at the UWI Open Campus, St Kitts & Nevis o Presenter at International Council on Archives (ICA) Conference, September 2016, Seoul, Korea: Preservation in Paradise: Trials & Triumphs in Setting Up an Academic Archive from Scratch in The Commonwealth of The Bahamas o Facilitator of International Council on Archives Anniversary Cake-cutting Celebration (June 2024) at Windsor, ON, Canada I have participated in a myriad of ICA online sessions/fora over the years, and am confident that I, with a culturally-diverse slant [I am a member of CARBICA], have much to offer, globally, via service on PCOM.”
Answer to the “How can you make the voice of ICA regions underrepresented in PCOM heard?” question
“As forementioned, I, a Bahamian, would bring cultural and racial diversity to the table. Working in Canada right now, and when I worked at UK, I have found that I can penetrate where others could/can not because of that diversity, hence archives advocacy has further reach. I therefore bring voices to whichever table at which they need to be heard/seen. There are other avenues for casting voices, as well, such as blogs. My blog “Once Upon a Time… from the lens of an archivist” has far global.”
