If you are an ICA member and an experienced archives or records professional interested in contributing your energy to ICA, please consider nominating yourself to a seat on PCOM!
The ICA Programme Commission (PCOM) is now accepting nominations for two member-at-large seats for the 2026-2029 term. If you’re an active ICA member (categories A, B, C, or D) and passionate about shaping the future of ICA’s professional programs, this is your chance to make an impact. Help guide key initiatives, including ICA Conferences, Expert Groups, and strategic programmes, by nominating yourself for a seat on the Programme Commission. Read on for more details about the role, requirements, and the nomination process.
Background
The ICA Programme Commission is the governance group for ICA’s professional programme. PCOM needs a diverse group of committed, energetic, and knowledgeable archivists and records professionals to oversee ICA Conferences and Congresses, Expert Groups, funding for professional projects, as well as strategic initiatives such as the New Professionals, Training, and Regional Assistance Programmes.
PCOM seeks to have representatives from all the ICA regions. Your nomination will ask about your ability to make the voice of ICA regions underrepresented in PCOM heard. Although PCOM will have representatives from all four broad ICA regions, after the current year when their term ends, there will be no representatives from Asia, Latin America, or the Arab Region. Nominations from those areas are particularly welcome.

You will be asked to provide the following information:
- a brief statement about your previous experience in ICA or other professional associations, outlining what you can contribute to PCOM,
- a brief curriculum vitae (two pages maximum), and
- you can also include a letter of endorsement from an ICA group to strengthen your nomination.

Schedule
Nominations are open from 24 February to 4 April 23:59 CET and elections will be held in April-May. The members-at-large are elected by the ICA membership.
The successful candidates will begin their terms at the beginning of 2026.
PCOM has a very limited budget, so travel support is not routinely provided to PCOM meetings. However, if an excellent candidate from a low-resourced region could not otherwise participate, some travel funds may be available to assist.
