Name: Carolina DE OLIVEIRA
Title: Ms.
Job title: Records Manager/Archivist, National Archives (Brazil)
Organisation (if ICA Institutional membership): /
Country or Territory: Brazil
Region represented: Latin America and the Caribbean
Candidate Statement:
“I could define myself as committed, responsible, disciplined, and organized. I like jogging, tracking, rock climbing, or just contemplating nature. Nowadays, my ambition is to contribute to ICA PCOM! I have been an archivist/records manager for 18 years at the National Archives of Brazil. I am a committed public server working with archival description, records management, technical training, team leadership, public policy, and project management. For example, I worked at the National Council on Archives Executive Secretariat from 2020-2023. I was responsible for assisting the Executive Secretary in compliance with the National Council on Archives (Conarq, in Portuguese) Constitution and By-Laws, elections, and the functioning of the Executive Secretariat. I believe it is possible to change the status quo of the Archival Science research area and community. So, I would like to spread the word that Archives are essential for knowledge systems in a digital environment. Living in a Global South country makes me someone who doesn’t fear to face challenges!”
How can you make the voice of ICA regions underrepresented in PCOM heard?
“I believe in a new system of democratic participation, like public engagement through consultations, so the voices of ICA regions underrepresented in PCOM can be heard.”
