The International Council on Archives is thrilled to announce the first Virtual Archival Games, organized by the ICA Section on Sport Archives (ICA/SPO)! This exciting event invites all archivists and records managers to showcase their skills and creativity through a series of fun challenges. The categories selected for this competition reflect some of the core aspects of archival work – Speed and Volume, Endurance, Teamwork and Freestyle/Mosaic – allowing you to demonstrate the unique skills that archivists use every day to preserve, organize, and share information.
To participate, post your videos on your Instagram or X/Twitter account using the hashtag #ArchivalGames2024. Videos should be between 30 seconds and 1 minute long. The winners will be announced at the IV International Seminar on Sports Archives, scheduled for 30 September 2024.
The ICA Fund for the International Development of Archives (FIDA) is calling for project proposals aimed at strengthening archives and supporting archivists in under-resourced areas. This initiative targets regions lacking in archival resources or training opportunities.
- Who Can Apply: Members of the ICA or organizations partnered with ICA members.
- Funding Available: Up to five grants, each not exceeding 5,000 Euros.

The ICA Expert Group on Research Services and Outreach (EGRSO) will host a webinar on AI and its impact on archival engagement. The session, conducted in English, will feature confirmed speakers discussing advancements in archival technology.
The ICA Section on Business Archives (SBA) is thrilled to announce its 2024 Conference in Warsaw, Poland organized by the Polish Development Bank (BGK) and Kozminski University.
The theme for this year’s conference is “Business Archives & Resilience”. Resilience refers to an organization’s ability to withstand, recover from, and adapt to adversities, disruptions, or uncertainties, ensuring sustainability and growth.
The International Council on Archives (ICA) and the EUreka3D Consortium are organizing the second webinar series on 3D Digitisation and Digital Transformation of Cultural Heritage, following the success of the 2023 edition of the webinar series edition, which attracted over 300+ attendees from all over the world.
The three sessions will take place in autumn 2024, and will focus on formats, authenticity and preservation for 3D and digitisation in the cultural heritage field, delivered by expert speakers and renowned professionals. The first session will take place on 26 September.

Join us for the Biennial Seminar on Sports Archives! Hosted by the Section on Sports Archives (SPO) and organized by the Diputació de Girona, the Generalitat de Catalunya, the Ajuntament de Girona, and the Associació de Professionals de l’Arxivística i la Gestió de Documents, this event aims to bring together a diverse audience involved in the management and preservation of sports-related documents.

The International Council on Archives is seeking expressions of interest to host its prestigious 2027 International Conference. This event serves as a cornerstone for the global archive and records management community.
- Who Can Apply: Organisations from all ICA regions, including institutional members, National Archives, and professional congress organizers.
- Scope: Proposals should align with ICA’s strategic priorities and ensure representativity across its diverse membership.
Hosted by the University of Strathclyde (Glasgow, Scotland), the conference will focus on embedding diversity in archival practices, diversifying collections, and addressing gaps, with topics including Indigenous heritage, decolonisation, and increasing accessibility.
The Tandanya-Adelaide Declaration 2024 Symposium will be held on 25 October at the Te Pae Convention Centre in Christchurch, Aotearoa, on the lands of Ngāi Tahu. Part of the Opening the Archives conference, jointly organised by the Australian Society of Archivists (ASA), the Archives & Records Association of NZ Te Huinga Mahara (ARANZ) and the Pacific Regional Branch of the International Council on Archives (PARBICA), the event will focus on reflecting on and discussing the implementation of the Tandanya-Adelaide Declaration, a key document launched by the International Council on Archives and the National Archives of Australia in 2019. The symposium will provide a platform to critically examine the Declaration as both a statement of purpose and a guide for practical action, with insights from First Nations community members, GLAM practitioners and allies.
