Graduated in 1978, BA (Hons) in Economics from University of Malaya and joined the National Archives of Malaysia as an archivist in the same year. She obtained a Certificate in Archives (Conservation) in 1979, M.A. in Overseas Records Management and Archives Administration, from the University College, London in 1990 and a Diploma in Information Management in 1996.
She was appointed as the Deputy Director General (Research and Outreach) in 2009 till 31 January 2012. Mrs. Daresah has been active internationally through her involvement in the Southeast Asia Regional Branch of ICA (SARBICA) since 1997, serving as the Treasurer and as the Secretary General for 1999 – 2001. Mrs. Daresah was also part of the strong organising team of the International Council on Archives (ICA) Congress held in Kuala Lumpur in the year 2008. She has vast experience in archives administration, electronic records management outreach programmes and have since researched, authored and edited several books written based on the holding of the National Archives. In recognition to her excellent service she was conferred with various recognition awards locally.
