Comma is the chief serial publication of the International Council on Archives, and a key benefit for ICA members. Its scope is the professional administration  and development of archives and archivists worldwide. The Editorial Board is now seeking a new Editor-in-Chief from outside its existing membership, to lead on delivery of Comma.
Published as two issues per year, the journal includes content from ICA Congress and Conferences, reports and studies from ICA bodies (Branches and Sections), and special thematic issues. It aims to be of value to a broad readership beyond the ICA membership and the wider archival profession. The new Editor-in-Chief will help define the way forward for the journal in the context of the ICA’s new strategy and vision.
The successful candidate will work closely with the experienced and committed Editorial Board. S/he is likely to have:
demonstrated publication or editorial experience
a good understanding of the structure and activities of the ICA
ability to organise and delegate to professional colleagues
The overall responsibilities are:
General:
leading on editorial policy for Comma, in line with ICA priorities and scholarly and professional best practice.
coordinating liaison with ICA sections, regional branches and expert groups to identify relevant content or develop special issues.
preparing an annual report on Comma activities
convening and chairing regular Comma Editorial Board Meetings.
Editorial and production:
coordinating the gathering, editing, and quality control of journal content
overseeing production timetables
liaising with the journal publisher and printer
The Editor-in-Chief will need to dedicate around 15-18 hours per month on average to the role, this being dependent on the production schedule.
If you think you can support ICA in this important work, please send a short (2-page) supporting statement outlining:
