Celebrate its 10th Anniversary!

The Universal Declaration on Archives was initiated by the International Council on Archives and adopted in Paris by the UNESCO on the 10th of November 2011.

The Universal Declaration on Archives is a statement about the relevance and importance of archives to the general public; it is an articulation of the specific connections between records and archives and good governance, basic human rights and entitlements, cultural and community identity, history and heritage. It details the unique characteristics of archives and their management requirements to ensure ongoing access for as long as they are needed. You can register your support for the Declaration by signing the online Register below. The names on the Register will be made publicly available together with the registrant’s city and country of residence, comments and the date the register was signed. If you are signing on behalf of an organisation the name of the organisation will also be shown.

PRIVACY: Other than the registrant’s name, organisation name (if the register is being signed on behalf of an organisation), city and country of residence, comments and the registration date, all other registration information provided will remain confidential and only used by the International Council on Archives. This confidential information will not be shared with a third party. Each person who signs the register has the right to access, modify, correct or delete data relating to them by sending an email to ica@ica.org (Law “Informatique et Libertés” January 6, 1978)
