The Universal Declaration on Archives (UDA), initiated by the International Council on Archives and adopted by UNESCO, underscores the critical importance of archives to society. It highlights their essential role in promoting good governance, safeguarding basic human rights, fostering cultural and community identity, and preserving history and heritage.
