FIDA NEEDS YOU

The objective of the Fund for the International Development of Archives (FIDA) is to assist colleagues in those countries who, for whatever reason, need assistance in developing capacity for records management and archives. A small budget for the fund is yearly provided by the International Council of Archives. But if FIDA really wants to make a difference, more money is needed. In the past, FIDA has unfortunately sometimes had to say no to several promising projects, because of a lack of a budget. Therefore, we ask institutions and records managers and archivists to donate to FIDA. Also, small amounts are very welcome, because with a little money, records managers and archivists can do a lot.

Donors play a vital role in providing resources for the ICA to deliver its vision across the globe. As a donor you directly contribute to records management and help the survival of the world's archival heritage. In doing so you enable people around the world to establish their identity, uphold democracy, protect their human rights, undertake all manner of research and experience meaningful education.

From 2010 until today, FIDA has funded 47 records management and archival projects, helping colleagues in Africa, the Caribbean, the Middle East, Southeast Asia, Latin America, Southeastern Europe, and the small islands of the Pacific. It has helped with training in preservation, including the preservation of audio-visual and digital materials, and in national and local record keeping and supported advocacy initiatives for new archival legislation.

FIDA wants to do more: we count on your support!
