The 2011 Toledo CITRA was the last CITRA. After a long review process ICA delegates unanimously approved at their Annual General Meeting the constitutional changes aimed at replacing CITRA by an Annual Conference under a new format.

The International Conference of the Round Table on Archives came to an end in Toledo last week. Last in a line of 43 CITRAs, the Toledo conference was both an emotional moment and a door opening to the future. Though maintaining certain features of the traditional ICA conference, this was a transitional event with some innovations designed to better meet ICA members’ expectations and needs: for first time the conference was open to all ICA members, while providing specific areas for debate such as the newly created Forum of  National Archivists; alongside the professional plenary and parallel sessions, colleagues could learn more about ICA by attending ICA special awareness sessions; general sessions were complemented by specific workshops promoting ICA products or linked to the conference main theme.
By introducing these changes, ICA expects to achieve more participation in the annual conference, more engagement from its members, and more opportunities to bring colleagues together to decide the central direction of the organization.
So once a year, be there: the ICA Annual Conference will be THE place to be for professionals around the world!
