The International Council on Archives invites professionals working in African countries to apply for a bursary that will provide a waiver of registration fees and a small additional grant to cover travel costs for ICA Yaounde  2018 “Archives: Governance, Memory and Heritage” that will take place in Yaounde, Cameroon November 26-28, 2018.
 
Who is it for?
 
To be eligible for the bursary, applicants must:
Be a member of the ICA (paid up member or at least having applied for membership at the date of application), work for an institution with ICA membership, or be a trainee/student in an institution with ICA membership;
Be studying or working in the domain of Archives or Records Management in any country in Africa.
 
How many bursaries are available and what does the bursary cover?
The bursary will benefit 20 participants from Africa, who will get a waiver of registration fees and an additional grant of 250 € to be used towards conference travel. The travel costs portion will not be awarded to residents of Cameroon. The number of bursaries may be increased if additional funds become available.

The deadline for applications is 30 September at 23:59 CEST (Time in France).

How will the selection be made?
 
If the eligibility criteria are met, the applicant’s name will be entered into a list. Using a virtual tool, the names of the bursary recipients will be selected in a randomized way. This process will be overseen by a committee made up of ICA officials.
Participants will be notified via email before the end of the early-bird period. Only the chosen bursary recipients will be contacted.
Please be aware that successful applicants will be ineligible for the full bursary of the New Professionals Programme for future conferences and congresses.
