On the 3rd October, 2017 Mr Eric Chin wrote to me advising that, owing to a change in his official responsibilities within the Singapore Government administration, he was resigning from the post of President FAN (Forum of National Archivists). In accepting Mr Chin’s resignation, I expressed ICA’s gratitude for Eric’s many contributions to FAN, the Executive Board and PCOM over the past three years; and noted that while ICA will be sad to lose the considerable expertise of Eric in these roles, his decision is quite understandable. I also note with great appreciation that Eric will remain within the ICA community, contributing to expert groups and other initiatives.
To maintain continuity and assure a substantial and valuable FAN meeting in Mexico this November, I am pleased to announce that Mr Jeff James, Chief Executive and Keeper of the National Archives of the UK, has accepted appointment to the role of ad interim President FAN; pending the running of elections in 2018.  Jeff brings a great depth of experience to the role, and is now heavily engaged in the planning for the FAN session at ALA-ICA Mexico City.  With the appointment, Jeff also now joins the ICA Executive Board and PCOM; again bringing his considerable experience and expertise to strengthen the governance and strategic direction of ICA.
