While archives and archivists have made great strides in the last few years, in many countries there is still more to be done. The ICA’s Fund for the International Development of Archives (FIDA) aims to provide assistance to archive professionals and institutions working in especially challenging conditions.
Its role is to support the development of archives and archivists across the world by providing financial assistance to develop archivists in specific skills which can then be disseminated to others, and to provide targeted specific assistance for well-planned archival projects. Awards are normally for one year, and the maximum award is € 10.000.
To achieve this purpose, once a year, the Trustees of FIDA invite members, branches and other ICA bodies to submit proposals for ICA/FIDA support for archival projects.
The Call for Projects 2021 will be open on July 31st. We encourage you to send applications which contribute to the development of archives and archivists (not just national ones) in developing countries in particular.
You must be a member in good standing to be eligible for funding. To find out how to join the ICA, visit our page here.
