A new phase has been launched in 2010 for the ICA-Req project which aims at developing a “toolkit” to enable professionals to understand, implement, and disseminate the standard. The working team is providing us with news about the project progress.
The project team sponsored by PCOM to develop implementation guidance and training material for the three modules of ICA-Req met in Canberra, Australia in late March (see Issue 20 of Flash for information on the particular products this team aims to develop). The team reviewed various working drafts that have been developed and discussed the processes and timeframes for progressing and completing the work. The project team aims to have exposure drafts of its various products available on the ICA website for peer review and comment by the ICA membership and other stakeholders in November 2011. The project team has identified a number of synergies between the ICA-Req project and the PARBICA Recordkeeping for Good Governance Toolkit project, which is developing practical guidelines on digital recordkeeping for Pacific Islands Governments. ICA-Req or ISO 16 175A recent important development is that all three modules of ICA-Req have been endorsed by the International Standards Organization as a result of a fast track ballot process. The ISO versions of ICA-Req are available as ISO 16175, parts 1-3. ICA-Req has been translated into French, Spanish, Catalan and Chinese. It has been formally endorsed by the governments of Canada, South Africa, New Zealand, Malaysia, Victoria and Queensland. The project team is particularly interested to hear from ICA members about their experiences in using ICA-Req, as some of these experiences could provide the basis for useful case studies.
ICA-Req is available in English and French in the ICA website resource center.
