The revamped resource centre offers its members and the archival community a convenient place to discover all the professional resources created by the International Council on Archives (ICA). Following several months of work and in consultation with users, the resource centre has been restructured and rationalised to provide a simplified space for professional resources such as international standards (ISAD(G) or Records in Contexts), guidelines, toolkits, code of ethics, bibliographies and case studies. These are organised in a new streamlined structure according to themes. The multilingual resources are the result of the work of ICA groups (sections, branches and expert groups) which were specially developed to provide information and/or advice in the fields of archives and records management.
A new homepage has been created with fresh visuals and improved entry points. The aim is to help visitors interested in browsing ICA resources and to allow them to find any specific item they are looking for with greater ease, regardless of the type of material. The resources featured on the resource centre’s landing page will be refreshed regularly, ensuring that returning users will always discover something new and potentially useful.
The “Resource of the Month” is a new initiative that will regularly highlight a different resource from our collection that is new or relevant to current concerns in the archival community. For logical reasons, ICA Newsletters, the Flash magazine and the Comma journal have been moved to the “publications” tab of the website.
We have also rationalised the categories under which resources are classified, creating themes to support a more intuitive and consistent online environment for users to identify and access ICA materials. This will facilitate discovery of resources for example about digital, photographic and audio-visual archives, ethical issues and records management.
