Comma, ICA’s International Journal on Archives, currently has two open calls: a call for abstracts and a call for language editors. Both calls close on the 1st of September 2023, so if you are interested in contributing to this ICA publication, we invite you to check the general details of each of them below.
Call for Abstracts for the next Special Issue of Comma
This call is for a special edition of Comma titled “Training and Education in Archives and Records Management”. This follows on from the special edition of Comma on “New Professionals in Archives and Records Management”. The abstracts for this edition demonstrated the importance that new professionals, and those supporting them, attach to training and education, as well as their eagerness to critique and discuss their experiences.
Who can submit an abstract?
The guest editors of this special edition of Comma welcome articles by:
Trainers and training providers
Educators and academics
Apprentices and trainees
Students and recently qualified professionals
Employers, managers, mentors
Professional associations
The guest editors especially wish to attract authors from all of ICA’s regions. We also encourage new professionals and first-time authors and are open to expressions of interest and draft abstracts which we are happy to review and discuss via email or virtual meetings prior to a final submission. Note that articles can be peer-reviewed at the request of authors.

Comma Seeks Language Editors
The Comma Editorial Board is also seeking candidates for Editors who are competent and have published or edited in any of the following languages: Arabic, Chinese, French, German, Russian, and Spanish. The Editors will set editorial standards for these languages, be responsible for soliciting content, edit copy, engage new and established authors, and help make the journal more inclusive, diverse, and accessible to a global readership. We welcome candidates who are fluent in one or more of these languages to apply.
The Editors will each need to dedicate around 15-18 hours per month on average, depending on the production schedule. To apply, please send a one-page letter of interest describing language competencies and editorial and publishing experiences and a curriculum vitae/résumé to Editor-in-Chief Bethany Anderson at comma@ica.org and to the ICA at ica@ica.org.
