The course consists of six main sections with content that covers:
- The history of and inspiration behind the UDA with short video interviews with the UDA pioneers
- A detailed commentary on the UDA text and how it fits into the principles and practice of archives and records management
- The benefits, challenges and success story of translating the UDA into a myriad of other languages
- How to use the UDA as an evaluation tool together with an evaluation checklist that learners can use in their own institutions
- Using the UDA as an advocacy tool
- How to use the UDA for marketing and communications
Course characteristics
- This course is available in English and French
- Beginner level, suitable for anyone working in archives as well as the general public
- The course has 6 sections and includes downloadable presentations, documents and videos, plus quizzes for you to test your understanding
- The course will take about 20 hours of study time. You have three months to complete it
- Course materials can be downloaded on to computers, smartphones and tablets and require an internet connection
- ICA will issue a certificate once the final assessment has been completed, provided all quizzes have been passed with 60% of the answers being correct
