Next Monday, the Section on Archives of Literature and Art (SLA) is holding a free online workshop that will allow participants to understand what linked open data and Wikidata are. Participants are not expected to have any previous experience with Wikidata.

The workshop will be led by Heather Dean and Elizabeth Bassett. Heather Dean is the Associate Director of Special Collections at the University of Victoria in Canada, as well as an Executive Member of the ICA Executive Board, Secretary General of the SLA and a member of the ICA’s Section on University and Research Institution Archives. Elizabeth Bassett is an archivist at the Royal BC Museum in Canada.

Join them on 29 May to learn what Wikidata is, how the archival community is using and contributing to Wikidata, and experiment with creating and editing in the platform. The workshop will demonstrate how linked open data, and Wikidata, provide greater access to archival collections.

More details about the programme and learning outcomes of this webinar can be found here.
