To further the aims of ICA and to strengthen co-operation within West Africa. WARBICA is responsible for carrying out the policy and programmes of ICA in this region, where these are relevant to WARBICA members. WARBICA operates under the Constitution of the West African Regional Branch of the International Council on Archives (WARBICA), adopted at the branch's inaugural conference, Dakar, 1977 (published in West African Archivist, no. 1, 1984).
