The ICA is pleased to present to its members the Annual Report 2019. This report looks back at 2019 providing a snapshot of the work carried out by staff and volunteers on the ICA professional programmes and strategic initiatives in response to the needs and interests of our members.
In the words of ICA President, David Fricker, “2019 was a busy year for the ICA.” We held our annual conference in Adelaide, Australia, where we met with colleagues from all over the world, with strong representation from the Pacific Islands and Australasia. A special outcome of the conference was the ‘Tandanya Adelaide Declaration’, produced by the newly formed ICA Expert Group on Indigenous Matters.
On the professional side, the ICA Training Programme launched its online learning platform and its first online training courses: ‘Introduction to Records Management’, and ‘Understanding and Using the Universal Declaration on Archives’. In addition, the ICA Africa Programme delivered two study schools with professionals and trainers from the anglophone and francophone archival communities in Africa.
The ICA strategic review, ICA for its members, by its members, data collection phase was carried out over the course of 2019, engaging with a broad cross-section of the ICA membership. The strategic review has yielded great results with strong representation from the different categories via the strategic review survey, helping the Secretariat better understand membership expectations and needs.
