Earlier this year the Secretariat completed a thorough review of the CITRA at the request of the Executive Board. The recommendation to replace the CITRA with an Annual Conference, which will be open to all members of ICA, has been unanimously accepted by the EB. It will be submitted for the formal approval of the AGM in Toledo on 28 October 2011. This will be an important step in increasing the opportunities for our members to participate in our organization.
On the assumption that the AGM will gives its approval to this change, ICA now wants to invite bids to host the new-style Annual Conferences in 2013 and 2014. Potential hosts are encouraged to develop proposals that make full use of the ICA brand and are based on a business model that is appropriate to their situation. Applications should show how ICA’s professional activities and organization would be strengthened. They should also indicate how the cause of archives in the host country and region would be advanced.
Attached is a document which sets out in detail the selection criteria and process. If you wish to be considered as a Conference host, please read it carefully and complete your application by 30 September 2011 at the latest. If you have any questions, please address them to Margaret Crockett, Deputy Secretary General (crockettATicaDOTorg). Please send your completed application to Margaret, with a copy to David Leitch, Secretary General (leitchATicaDOTorg)
It is intended that the EB’s final recommendations for Conference hosts in 2013 and 2014 should be submitted for the AGM’s approval in Toledo.
