2021 was a year of change for the ICA. A year, in the words of the ICA’s President, David Fricker, “(…) in which we have modernised and improved our governance, our culture and our focus” thanks to the active involvement and profound commitment of our members and extended community.
To present the results of all those efforts to revitalize and maintain the Council as a relevant organisation working for and with the sector, we are pleased to share today the ICA Annual Report 2021.
This report summarizes the discussion around the constitutional review and presents the main changes in the ICA governance structure. Some of those changes are the opening of the call for nominations to select members of the Programme Commission (PCOM) and the establishment of the Forum of Professionals Associations (FPA). These reforms are clear evidence of the interest of our members in embracing our values of transparency, accountability and inclusivity.
The 2021 report also offers an overview of the ICA main events, including the first ICA Virtual Conference, Empowering Knowledge Societies, and the principal projects developed by the three professional ICA programmes: the New Professionals Programme, the Training Programme, and the Africa Programme.
One of the highlights of this year was also the selection of seven projects by PCOM to be funded and developed in the first quarter of 2022, and six projects submitted from different parts of the world and supported by the Fund for the International Development of Archives (FIDA).
2021 was also a year where the ICA started to reflect on its publications with the help of our members, and when we started to regularly highlight different professional resources, delivered by the ICA bodies, under the campaign ‘ICA Resource of the Month’.
